KUSA – An Alaska Airlines flight headed from Boston to San Diego was diverted to Denver Tuesday night due to what airport officials are calling a "customer service issue."
As of 9 p.m. Tuesday, Alaska Airlines flight 769 had left Denver and was headed to its intended destination.
According to an Alaska Airlines spokesperson, the flight left Boston at around 6:30 p.m. local time. A passenger was intoxicated and became disruptive- - prompting the flight crew to tell him to calm down.
The airline says the passenger became verbally abusive and agitated -- and even went as far as to threaten the flight crew. This led the pilot to decide to divert to Denver -- the nearest airport -- to deescalate the situation.
A video taken aboard the plane shows some passengers applauding as what appears to be the passenger who caused the disturbance is escorted off by waiting law enforcement.
