Here are some ways to help others during the holidays

KUSA - With the holidays just around the corner, here are some ways you can give back to your community with friends or family. 

The list includes preparing Thanksgiving meals for disabled families, delivering Christmas trees, and buying toys for a family in need.

Thanksgiving meals for the disabled 

Help prep, cook, and serve meals for 450 individuals with disabilities and their families.

Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate 

Cook turkeys, sort through donations, and deliver food to the homeless and less fortunate with Operation Turkey.

Buy and donate Thanksgiving food 

The Denver Rescue Mission needs frozen turkeys, boxed mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned fruit, canned vegetables, and canned yams to give to men, women, and children in need at the Lawrence Street Community Center, Fort Collins Rescue Mission, and The Crossing. 

Drop off any donations at one of these locations by Wednesday, Nov. 22:

Donate food, toiletries, and clothes 

Donate non-perishable food items, toiletries like shampoo and toothpaste for more than a hundred Colorado food banks.

Monday, Dec. 25 | Christmas 

Help donate and give out toys to kids

The annual Dolls for Daughters and Toys for Boys Toy Shop will provide gifts for 5,000 children. You can help by donating toys, Lego sets, stockings, and books at a drop-off location. You can also volunteer at the Toy Shop by giving out gifts on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Help deliver more than 200 Christmas trees to families in need around northern Colorado.
