Hiker dies after fall on Palmer Lake trail

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) - El Paso County authorities say a man has died after a 40-foot fall while hiking on the Palmer Lake Reservoir Trail.

The Gazette reports that sheriff's office spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby says the 37-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, died Saturday night while being treated by search and rescue crews. He had been hiking when another person reported the fall.

Details about what led to the man's fall have not been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
