Hotel evacuated due to fire

DENVER - Guests of the La Quinta Hotel, off of Interstate 25 and South Colorado Boulevard, had to be evacuated after a fire broke out just before 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Denver Fire Department Public Information Officer Mark Watson said no injuries were reported, and the evacuations were just a precautionary measure..

Most of the fire was contained to the second floor, the fire department spokesperson said, and fire investigators were on scene investigating where and how the fire started.

Firefighters had most of the fire contained but were still chasing hot spots when they were called out to a fire at a condominium complex about two miles away, near Cherry Creek Drive and Mississippi Avenue, Watson said.

Watson said that fire was also quickly contained and no one was injured.
