DOUGLAS COUNTY - The Douglas County detective who was shot by a suicidal suspect Friday remains in “very critical condition,” the sheriff’s office says.
Detective Dan Brite has since received an overwhelming amount of support from the Parker community – but he continues to have a long road to recovery.
One way to help is to donate to the Fallen Officer Fund of Douglas County Foundation. This provides assistance to the families of officers who are killed or wounded in the line of duty.

The suspect in Friday afternoon’s shooting has been identified as 40-year-old Randall Rodick. He was shot by a plain clothes officer after leading authorities on a short chase in an RV that ended in a crash outside of Parker Adventist Hospital.
Rodick was believed to have been suicidal, and had been spotted walking near Sierra Middle School with a gun. He fired at Brite when he was confronted by deputies.
