I-70 reopens after mudslide near Eagle

EAGLE - CDOT reopened Interstate 70 just west of Wolcott Tuesday after a mudslide forced crews to close the roadway earlier in the evening.

The slide occurred around 7:30 p.m. after heavy rain fell in the area, CDOT reported. There were no reports of injuries.

All lanes were closed as crews brought in front-end loaders to clear the mud and debris that was several inches deep. Just before 10:00, CDOT was able to reopen both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane.

CDOT reported westbound had fully reopened by 11 p.m.
