Injured mountain biker rescued in Boulder County

It took rescue teams several hours to reach and bring down an injured mountain biker on a remote trail in Boulder County

BOULDER COUNTY - Two mountain bikers in Boulder County helped inform emergency crews about an injured cyclist who had crashed his bike on a remote trail and was unable to get up.

25-year-old William Buckner was biking along on the Walker Ranch Loop Trail on Wednesday when he crashed, injuring his left hip and arm.

Two other mountain bikers, Jason Kiefer and Ryan Cross, happened to come across Buckner about 10 minutes later and called 911 for assistance.

Multiple emergency crews arrived at the scene. Buckner was taken by ambulance to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The Boulder Sheriff’s Office says the incident serves as a good reminder for mountain bikers and hikers to tell someone where they are going and how long they plan to be gone.

The Walker Ranch Loop is one of the most rugged, rarely traveled trails in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
