Man's body found in car, being investigated as homicide

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO. - Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found inside of a car in a Jefferson County neighborhood Monday afternoon as a homicide.

The man has been identified as 26-year-old Samuel Stewart.

Deputies say they first received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 11300 block of West Maplewood Drive at around 3:30 p.m. They first came to the area after neighbors said they noticed an unfamiliar Ford Explorer had been parked on the street for hours.

Residents called 911 when they saw Stewart’s body inside.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says no suspects have been identified in Stewart’s death, and they don’t say what the motive may have been. How he died and why police think foul play was involved also wasn’t released.

Nevertheless, investigators say “no threat to the public exists.”

Anyone with information about Stewart’s death is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP.
