DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The growing mass of data available to the Colorado Department of Transportation has the state agency on the lookout for a new kind of executive: a chief data officer.
The department is following in the footsteps of the U.S. Department of Transportation, which hired its first chief data officer in the summer of 2014.
Colorado "is one of the first" states to create to create the role, said CDOT spokeswoman Amy Ford.
The position, details of which which can be seen here, was posted on Monday. The agency hopes to have someone on board in a few months, Ford said.
