DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Economic development leaders today unveiled fresh details about metro Denver's bid for Amazon.com Inc.'s second headquarters -- including the fact that their pitch led by touting the region's workforce talent.
They believe it is the attribute most coveted by the global e-commerce giant (Nasdaq: AMAZ) as it searches for a site for "Amazon HQ2."
"I can't say it enough -- talent is our foremost driver and we focus on it almost exclusively," said Sam Bailey, Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. vice president, at a briefing today.
"We did not lead with a cactus," he said, referring to move from business leaders in Tucson, Arizona, who sent Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos a full-sized saguaro cactus and an invitation to locate HQ2 in Tucson.
