Kids get the chance to design a future playground at Loveland

LOVELAND - A new playground in Loveland will be built in October, and its designers are its most popular visitors: kids.

More than 60 children who live in neighborhoods near Junior Achievement Park sketched out their dream playgrounds on Wednesday August 23.

Some of the features on the kids' wish lists include trampolines, a ninja warrior course, and three-person slides.

The project is supported by a $50,000 grant from the Colorado Health Foundation, a partner of KaBOOM!, which is a nonprofit foundation partnering with the city.

"One of the greatest benefits of the community-build process for this playground is the ability to garner neighborhood ownership in the park," Elizabeth Kayl, Parks and Recreation Director said.

Construction will start on October 14 with the help of volunteers from the community.
