Man fatally shot after confrontation with Grand Junction Police

GRAD JUNCTION - A man whose wife said was acting erratically in front of their children and armed with several knives was fatally shot after a confrontation with Grand Junction Police Sunday afternoon.

The wife first called 911 at around 3:47 p.m. Officers arrived at their home at 2845 North Ave. shortly thereafter. Grand Junction Police say they were concerned about the wellbeing of the children.

Details about what led up to the shooting are sparse, but Grand Junction Police say the man was shot soon after officers arrived. He died at the scene.

No one else was injured.

The suspect has not yet been identified.

The Critical Incident Response Team has been activated to investigate the shooting.
