Man killed in fiery Westminster crash

WESTMINSTER – A man is dead after his sedan hit a wall and burst into flames, according to Westminster Police.

Police responded to the crash at around 9:20 p.m. Thursday. It happened in the 6000 block of West 72nd Avenue – near Lamar Street.

Neighbors contacted authorities after hearing the crash. When police and fire arrived, they say the car was already fully engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was extinguished, police found the driver inside. They say he was the only person inside the car.

The man's identity has not yet been released, and there's no word on what caused the crash.

The incident is under investigation.

A person purporting to be a member of the victim's family sent 9NEWS the following statement about the accident:

"SPEC. 4 Joshua Norland was a good man and very passionate about his family, his service in the US Army, his job, and his friends. We mourn this huge loss for our family and ask for the respect he deserves and privacy through this very difficult time."
