KUSA - This week on 9News Mornings, the crew is profiling their favorite non-profit organization. 9NEWS Morning Anchor Corey Rose starts her journey from a unique spot.
Her passion started nearly seven years ago, after her father passed away from leukemia. He was a firefighter for Los Angeles City Fire Department. Corey started a fundraiser in honor of her father and it has grown exponentially in the years since.
It all starts at the Hard Rock Café as a benefit concert called Wishes and Heroes. All of proceeds go to two amazing organizations.
Fifty percent goes to the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation. Corey serves on the board and it helps local firefighters and their family members when tragedy strikes -- oftentimes it’s from line-of-duty cancer (which is what her father had).

The other 50 percent goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado.
Every year, one Colorado child fighting leukemia or lymphoma who needs a wish granted is chosen and the concert raises money to grant their wish.
Tuesday, Corey took the morning team out to Make-A-Wish Colorado to show them where all the magic happens.
Also, this year’s 7th annual Corey Rose Wishes and Heroes Benefit Concert is June 24 on the 16th Street Mall right in front of the Hard Rock Cafe.
Tickets are only $20 and 100 percent of the money raised goes to those two incredible organizations.
