KUSA - Music connects us. It’s timeless. And it’s something Sue Mogan is dedicating her life to in order to make sure it doesn’t fade for generations to come.

“I am the blessed one,” she said. “Best students and best parent support.”

She’s being “passing the passion” and teaching at Hackberry Hill Elementary in Arvada for close to 30 years. Principal Don Klene calls her the heartbeat of the school.

“You need to know about Sue,” he said. “You need to see what she is doing. She is the driving force in this school.”

Before the first student arrives at Hackberry, Mogan makes an hour drive to teach a special class on her own time.

She started a strings program every student in kindergarten through 6th grade can be a part of, with 150 in the orchestra and another 150 students in the choir.

“I just want them to walk out of this room having experienced the passion of music,” Mogan said.

Mogan is inspiring the next generation of heroes, who will also pass on that same passion.
