Mountain residents receive up to 2 feet of snow

PINECLIFFE - Wayne Harrington is keeping an eye on the stream next to his Gilpin County home this week, after a spring storm dumped more than a foot of snow on the area.

"This time of year it does melt quick," said Harrington, who says he's seen snowfall in the Rockies as late as July.

Harrington said last September's devastating floods are on his mind.

Pinecliffe and parts of nearby Nederland saw snowfall totals ranging from a foot to two feet. Temperatures in the area are expected to rise to the 60s over the weekend.

"There's a lot of snow pack up in the mountains, so who knows," said Betty Bass of Nederland. Bass and her family built a mini ski-run in their backyard following the storm.
