DENVER - Catholic Charities will open a new women's shelter in mid-2017 in northeast Denver, the organization announced.
The new Samaritan House Women's Shelter, which uses funding and support from the City and County of Denver and Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Denver, will offer single women facing homelessness access to emergency and extend shelter.
Catholic Charities purchased the building at 6240 East Smith Road, which will provide 150 beds each night.
The City of Denver provided $1 million as part of the $5 million project, which aims to serve the growing number of vulnerable homeless women, including those who are elderly.
