Rocky Mountain National Park sets new visitation record two years in a row

KUSA - Two record years in a row at Rocky Mountain National Park.

The National Park Service released new visitation numbers online.

To date this year, 4,434,443 people have visited Rocky Mountain National Park. This time last year, 4,070,823 had been to the park - the most the park had seen in the 100 years its been around.

That's an 8.9 percent increase this year, compared to 2015.

Still, the Park Service isn't talking publicloy about capping the  number of visitors to Rocky.

The latest reports posted by the National Park Service online go through November. December's numbers still need to be calculated and added for this year's final visitation numbers.
