Glenn outraises Bennet in race for Senate

KUSA - Republican challenger Darryl Glenn outraised incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colorado) this quarter in his effort to unseat Bennet in the U.S. senate.

Glenn raised $2.8 million during the three-month period while Bennet brought in about $2.2 million, according to campaign press releases.

“Everyone has underestimated Darryl Glenn this election,” spokeswoman Katey Price said. “But these numbers— which show him outraising a sitting U.S. Senator— prove he’s not one to back down from a challenge.”

It’s a major fund raising increase for the El Paso County Commissioner. At the end of the last reporting period, Glenn had raised a total of about $348,000.

That means he raised eight times more money in the last three months than he did during the previous 18 months.

Bennet has significantly more money left in his war chest though. The Democrat’s campaign says he has $3.6 million left to spend between now and Election Day.

Glenn’s campaign says he has $1.9 million.

But an even bigger problem for Glenn is his position in the polls.

Real Clear Politics, which averages all Colorado polling data, has Bennet leading by 11.3 percent.
