Puppies dumped in trash now have homes

KUSA - It's the happiest of endings for four little puppies that were once thrown away in a trash can in a Highlands Ranch park.

Adoption day for the nine-week-old pups will be held Saturday in Colorado Springs.

The Humane Society of Pikes Peak received more than 60 applications for Bridgette, Brutus, Gus-Gus, and Lilo.

Four families have been selected to take home the dogs after a random drawing of applications this week.

"We enjoy traveling once or twice a year in our motorhome, which we know Lilo would love making her own, as well," said one adopter.

"We have long been looking for a sister for our little pup. Since our neighbors and their Yorkie moved in May, Izzy has been getting lonely and wanting a companion to play with," said another

The foster family that raised them will send the pups off with little 'going home' bags of their favorite toys and treats to enjoy with their new families.

Animal control officers have never found the person who dumped the puppies in a park trash can when they were just days old.
The dogs a long-haired small-breed mix, possibly Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso.
