Radiation scare closes I-25 off-ramp

NORTHGLENN - A dump truck driver pulled off Interstate 25 and called 911 after learning that he may be hauling radioactive material. A hazmat crew responded to the West 120th Avenue off-ramp in Northglenn Monday afternoon.

North Metro Fire says the driver was transporting water pipes to be recycled. He received a call from his trucking company telling him that the pipes may be radioactive.

Crews tested the material and determined the radiation levels were safe. The off-ramp was closed for a short while.
