DENVER – Folks in Denver are not afraid to put a ring on it.
That’s according to new information released by the Denver Clerk and Recorder's Office on Thursday.
Last month, the city issued a record-breaking 980 marriage licenses in Denver County.
“That’s an average of 42 marriage licenses we issued each business day in August,” Denver Clerk and Recorder Debra Johnson wrote in a release. “We’re set to have another record-breaking year for marriage licenses as well. It’s great to be a small part of so much love and happiness each day.”
It’s not a huge surprise that August saw the uptick in couples saying their “I dos.” August has been the busiest month for marriage licenses eight of the last 12 years.
The previous record was set last August when 895 marriage licenses were issued.
The Denver Clerk and Recorder’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
