Resident rescued from Thornton house fire

A person was rescued from their home and taken to the hospital after a fire broke out there Thursday morning.

Thornton Fire says it happened at 2740 E. 98th Ave—a few blocks north of Thornton Parkway.

No one else was injured in the fire, and there’s no word yet on the cause.

Firefighters say the victim suffered severe smoke inhalation and had to be airlifted to a trauma 1 center.

Investigators don't believe the fire is suspicious in nature, and know it started in the back of the house.
