Smoky Hill freshman dies after lacrosse game

Kristin Callbeck was playing in a JV lacrosse game, when she had to leave the field after saying she wasn't feeling well.

KUSA - Smoky Hill High School is mourning the death of a 15-year-old freshmen lacrosse player.

Kristin Callbeck was playing in a JV lacrosse game Tuesday evening when she had to leave the field after saying she wasn't feeling well.

Shortly after, Callbeck collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where she later died. 

Extra counselors were brought in to assist students and will be regularly available when needed.

A cause of death was not released and results could take up to eight to 10 weeks to complete.

On Twitter, Colorado schools sent messages of support to Callbeck's team.

A memorial for Callbeck will be held Saturday, May 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 21750 E Dorado Lane Centennial, CO 80015.
