Special Olympics Colorado honored at event

Since 1969, Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) has provided athletic training and a forum for these inspirational athletes to compete. This year an astounding 11,000 local competitors will take part in an estimated 100 organized events.

The group's mission is to build confidence, add life skills and bring members of the community together in efforts that embrace those with intellectual disabilities that might otherwise not have a place to shine.

It's a cause 9NEWS Anchor Gregg Moss has been closely involved with for years. Moss emceed Wednesday morning's breakfast at the Grand Hyatt in Denver.
