Taylor Swift says disgraced Denver DJ still hasn't paid her symbolic $1 settlement

KUSA - Despite a legal win that dominated headlines for weeks, Taylor Swift says the man a jury agrees groped her has yet to pay the pop star her symbolic $1 settlement.

In August, a jury of six women and two men believed Swift's accusation that in 2013, former Denver radio DJ David Mueller reached his hand up her skirt and grabbed her behind without her consent. He was fired from country radio station KYGO days after Swift's management team reported what happened.

Two years after his firing, Mueller sued not only Swift, but her mother and her radio liaison. He claimed Swift's false accusation that he reached his hand up her skirt and grabbed her bare behind during a meet and greet at the Pepsi Center ruined his chances of ever working in radio again.

He lost, and was ordered to pay Swift's counter settlement -- $1.

Nearly four months after the verdict, Swift told TIME Magazine Mueller has yet to pay up.

"To this day he has not paid me that dollar, and I think that act of defiance is symbolic in itself," Swift told TIME Magazine.

Swift, along with a handful of other women and men, were named as TIME's Person of the Year 2017. The Silence Breakers, as the magazine called them, are those who spearheaded #MeToo, a movement denounce sexual assault and harassment. In his first television interview after the trial, Mueller continued to deny the assault on Good Morning America.

“I didn’t do it. I never grabbed her,” he said. “I never had my hand under her skirt and I can pass a polygraph.”

Mueller claimed the photo of the meet and greet, which was the main point of evidence for both the defense and plaintiff, was the result of him jumping in the photo at the last second.

The magazine said it could not reach Mueller after multiple attempts to contact him.
