Woman missing for days found alive in wrecked car

KUSA - A Highlands Ranch woman who was reported missing April 29, was found inside a wrecked car Sunday afternoon in Park County.

Undersheriff Monte Gore says just before 2 p.m. several people came into the sheriff's office to report that they had found a woman inside a car near Red Hill Pass off of Highway 285.

Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener says the vehicle left the road, and came to rest in an aspen grove about 140 feet off the road and about 70 to 80 feet down a cliff. Wegener believes the crash happened several days ago but was just discovered Sunday.

Deputies believe the woman found in the car is 43- year-old Kristin Hopkins, of Highlands Ranch. She was reported missing April 29.

Hopkins was airlifted to St. Anthony's Central and is critical condition. She's said to be severely dehydrated and has numerous injuries.

Her family will release a statement Monday at 3 p.m.
