Manitou Incline has officially reopened

MANITOU SPRINGS - The Manitou incline has been open since last week, but Friday the quad-burning incline got an official re-opening ceremony.

The celebration will took place at 8 a.m. at the base of the incline.

The incline closed in August for a third and final round of renovations aimed at improving trail safety, stability and accessibility. The repairs will help with drainage and erosion control as well. The incline previously closed in the autumn of 2014 and 2016 for trail work.

The three-month project cost $2 million, paid for by grant money.

Hearty incliners who make it to the top-most section will see new retaining walls and steps. Gone are the exposed rebar and loose debris that made the final stretch a tricky, walking-on-all-fours climb.
