NEW CASTLE, Colo. (AP) - New Castle officials dedicated a monument to an Air Force pilot who died in 2014 during a combat mission in the Middle East.

A sculpture of Capt. William DuBois was unveiled at noon on Saturday.

DuBois died when his plane crashed while he was flying in support of the military campaign against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.

According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, DuBois was flying in the dark and lost track of his altitude.
