5 things you need to know Tuesday

USA TODAY - Megyn Kelly details scary, bullying 'Year of Trump'

In a published memoir that goes on sale Tuesday, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly says she thinks President-elect Donald Trump was agitated before the first GOP primary debate over suspicions she’d ask about his first wife's claim rape claims. Kelly alleges in Settle for More how Trump complained to Fox News executives about what she’d do as a moderator of the debate, claiming "he had ‘heard’ that my first question was a very pointed question directed at him." The infamous question — which Kelly believes was not leaked to Trump — centered on his treatment of women instead of his well-chronicled divorce between Donald Trump and Ivana Trump involving an alleged sexual assault, which Ivana Trump later retracted. Kelly's book also highlights accounts with her former Fox News boss Roger Ailes, who Kelly said harassed her starting in 2005 .

Obama begins final overseas tour in Greece

On Tuesday morning, President Obama lands in Athens, for the first leg of a three-nation overseas tour, one that takes on a very different tenor following the unexpected election of Donald Trump  as his successor. The forces that helped elect Trump — anxiety about trade, terrorism and migration — are some of the same forces roiling Europe and, in particular, Greece, which has experienced a deep recession as well as being a main port of entry to Europe for refugees from war-torn Syria. Obama will discuss these items and other issues in meetings with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipris and President Prokopis Pavlopoulos. This trip marks Obama's final state visit as president.

One million more Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving than last year

If you're traveling this Thanksgiving, you've got company. One million more Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving than last year because of a boost in consumer confidence, according to the auto club AAA's travel forecast released Tuesday. The top four destinations, based on AAA.com bookings, are the warm weather spots of Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego and Orlando. New York City, home of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, ranks fifth.

Pipeline protesters pleading with Obama as Trump nears White House

Organizers have been planning a series of demonstrations nationwide Tuesday in opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline. The goal of those 153 events nationwide — including one at Standing Rock with activist Robert Kennedy Jr. — is to push President Obama to take action to delay or stop the 1,172-mile project through executive action. Activists say the message is more urgent and the North Dakota opposition camps are growing since Donald Trump was elected president. Trump’s priorities for his first 100 days in office include a restart to the stalled Keystone XL pipeline and an across-the-board expansion of oil, coal and natural gas production.

Los Angeles faces Trump backlash as it pitches to host 2024 Olympics

Will Donald Trump's victory hinder Los Angeles’ chances of hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics? That’s one of the questions city officials face as they present to more than 1,000 delegates at the general assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees officials Tuesday in Qatar. (Leaders from Paris and Budapest are touting their cities, too.) Chief among the concerns is that Trump's comments during the campaign about Muslims and Mexicans could hurt the U.S. city's standing. Paris and Los Angeles, which have each held the Olympics twice, have been viewed as close front-runners in the 2024 race.  The vote for the host city will take place next September in Lima, Peru.

And the essentials:

Weather: Most of the nation will see quiet weather Tuesday except for the Northeast and Northwest, where rain and snow showers are forecast.

Stocks: Asian stocks were mostly lower Tuesday as expectations of a U.S. rate hike boosted the dollar.
