Trump signs law giving states more say in Planned Parenthood funding

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The fight over funding for Planned Parenthood moved to the states after a new law that aims to make it easier to restrict funding to health clinics that provide abortions was signed by President Trump on Thursday.

States can change how federal money through the Title X family planning program is disbursed through the new law. It reverses an Obama administration rule that barred states from from excluding healthcare centers offering abortions.

“Prioritizing funding away from Planned Parenthood to comprehensive health care alternatives is a winning issue,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-abortion group, told the New York Times.

Some states are already moving to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood clinics in their states in different ways.
