Outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease greets CU Boulder students

KUSA - An unusual sickness is spreading at CU Boulder right now -- hand, foot and mouth disease.

The school posted on its website that several cases have been diagnosed over the last week.

The viral illness causes painful sores and rashes.

It's more common in young children, but can also be contracted by adults.

The release assures students that most cases resolve within a week and do not need medication attention.

Staff who work in animal research facilities should take extra care not to spread the disease.
