Parker businesswoman pleads guilty to embezzling

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - A Parker businesswoman has pleaded guilty to embezzling money from an employee benefit plan and faces years in jail when she's sentenced early next year.

Emily R. Strunk, 45, a benefits administrator from Parker, pleaded guilty last week to wire fraud, money laundering, and embezzlement after she was indicted in April, according to the government.

According to the government, Strunk was a third-party administrator for employee pension and retirement plans. For 10 years starting in 2005, "Strunk devised a scheme to fraudulently obtain money from the employee pension or retirement funds of her clients."

"She used the plan assets for her own personal and business expenses and used her clients’ plan assets to pay off other clients who had terminated her services," the government said in a statement.
