But marijuana still illegal under federal law, and that prompted a warning from Governor Hickenlooper to "don't break out the Cheetos or gold fish yet."
While the governor wasn't ready, others were.
Wednesday, attorney and marijuana advocate Robert Corry and his daughters delivered Cheetos and Goldfish to the Governor's Office.
Hickenlooper wasn't there so they left the snacks with his secretary.
Hickenlooper needs to sign off on Amendment 64 before it takes effect and Wednesday's delivery was Corry's way of encouraging him to do that.
The new policy won't take effect until Governor Hickenlooper ratifies the ballots. That should happen within 30 days.
