Proposal to ban marijuana sales in Pueblo fails

KUSA - A ballot issue in Pueblo proposing the end of marijuana sales in the city of Pueblo was defeated.

The measure failed 59 percent to 41 percent.

The group Citizens for a Healthy Pueblo aimed to prohibit retail sales of recreational marijuana and require all existing retail marijuana facilities to close.

Citizens for a Healthy Pueblo argued retail marijuana hasn't been good for the community.

Opponents of the measure said Proposition 200 would damage the city's economy and destroy jobs in the community.

Colorado legalized recreational marijuana in 2012 when Amendment 64 passed with 55 percent of the vote.
