KUSA - There’s no snow on the ground yet, but the city of Aurora is getting a head start this week.

Snow Plow Drivers went head-to-head Thursday in the city's Snow Plow Roadeo competition.

The event took place in Aurora's South Satellite Facility.

The city kicked off the week with training classes for more than 200 employees.

Training revolved around fighting snow and road safety. Thursday was the competition portion of the rodeo.

Operators competed against each other in tandem plow and single-driver loader skills competitions.

They had to get through the course quickly, but also got docked points for knocking over cones.

The competitions ensure that operators have the skills needed to keep the streets safe.

The Snow Plow Roadeo finals will take place Friday afternoon.
