Sheriff launches drug drop box program

KUSA - There is now a place to safely dispose of your unused and expired medications all year long.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office has started a Drug Drop Box Program.

You can drop off prescription and non-prescription drugs in a box in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office.

Recent statistics show one of the main starting points for drug abuse is unused prescription drugs kept in a home.

Unused medications can also cause accidental drug overdoses in children.

That's one of the reasons why the DEA started the National Drug Take Back Day.

The only problem is that it's just twice a year.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff says people should be able to get rid of these drugs all year long.
