Man fires shots, shatters deputy's car window in Boulder County

BOULDER COUNTY - A man was shot by a Boulder County Sheriff's deputy on Saturday after he fired at the deputy, shattering a window of her car.

Several drivers reported that the man was walking along Highway 287 with a gun and acting aggressive toward drivers at about 5:15 p.m.

Shortly after, a deputy responded and approached the man in the 7500 block of North 107th Street.

Investigators say he immediately fired a shot at her. She returned fire, hitting the man several times.

The man was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The deputy was not hurt.

Highway 287 between Niwot Road and Oxford Road will likely remained closed for the evening as the Boulder County Critical Incident team continues to investigate.
