DENVER - When we get this much snow in Denver, it has a way of turning a lot of adults into kids.
9NEWS found a few of those adults in a neighborhood just west of the DU campus after we got a news tip about snow sculptures in the area.
Near Franklin Street and Warren we saw giant chess pieces and a large ship.
In past years, David Newell says he's created other sculptures with all the snow from the sidewalk and his yard.
This year he used a samurai sword to perfect his creation.
"The good thing about a snow storm like this is I'm no sculptor. I couldn't afford this much clay to build this with, but when it snows this much you've got an unlimited amount of media to work with you know," Newell said.
Danny Wise, constructed a huge dragon down the road from the chess pieces.
"I love the snow. I love driving in it. I love playing in it. I don't know how you cannot like snow," Wise said.
Wise used the giant icicles hanging from his house as dragon teeth. His next project is to build a giant Lombardi trophy for Sunday's big super bowl party.
