A birthday party was held in England to mark the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." The party was held at the home where Austen spent the last eight years of her life.
A Pride and Prejudice cake was presented as part of the celebrations.
Over the last decade, Pride and Prejudice has spawned an explosion of movies, TV shows and spin-offs.
"It's a much greater novel than the film versions have allowed it to be," Joanna Trollope, a British author, said. "They are delightful, there's no question about it. They've been lovely all of them in various ways, but they haven't quite done the novel justice because it's a much bigger, deeper, more serious, more important novel than the movie versions have allowed it to be."
