Suspect search near Berthoud Pass closes highway

KUSA - Law enforcement blocked traffic for hours on Wednesday to find an armed man who ran from them.

According to the Grand County Sheriff's Office, the whole ordeal started around 6:15 p.m.

They say a man and woman were suspected of having stolen a car.

Fraser Winter Park Police tried to arrest them, but they took off in the stolen car.

The suspects were also wanted by Broomfield Police on arrest warrants.

After Colorado State Patrol troopers did a pit maneuver stop, the car went off the road and the suspects fled.

The woman was later caught, but the man is still on the run. In reaction, law enforcement closed Highway 40 east of Berthoud Pass to Winter Park. It reopened around 10:30 p.m.
