DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Denver International Airport is asking for ideas on how to better manage taxi transportation from the airport.
Over the years, ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft have taken more and more market share from taxi and cab companies — even as the number of taxi companies serving the airport have grown. Currently, seven cab companies are allowed to have cabs waiting for passengers at DIA’s commercial waiting lots.
The issue is that as more passengers use ride-sharing companies to get to and from the airport, taxi drivers are left waiting longer and longer periods for a paying passenger, according to airport officials.
There are no restrictions on ride-sharing companies or taxi’s dropping off passengers at DIA.
