KUSA - A Wisconsin appeals court has struck down a law prohibiting parents from allowing people who are underage to drink in their homes.
The court argued that Fond du Lac County’s ordinance was stricter than the state’s, which only banned underage drinking in bars and liquor stores.
The case was first brought forward by Stuart Muche, who was written up after teens were caught drinking at his home during his son’s graduation party.
The ruling could call into question other rulings throughout the state of Wisconsin, which has multiple of the top drinking cities in the U.S.
Fond du Lac was ranked No. 7, with 24.6 percent of adults reporting that they drink in excess.
Though the legal drinking age in Wisconsin is 21, those younger can possess and consume alcohol if they are with a parent, legal guardian or spouse.
