Woman mistakes seat cover for person dressed as Batman

KUSA - Batman is usually seen as a superhero, not a supervillain. Juanita Aurand was heading to work in downtown Denver when she spotted a familiar face in a nearby parking garage.

"I parked my car, and then I got out and turned around, and the first thing I see is Batman looking at me," she told 9NEWS. "I kind of blinked and looked away, and he's still looking at me."

She thought a man dressed as Batman in a parked car was ready to attack. Aurand ran out of the parking garage, thinking she was in imminent danger.

"When I got in our building and I went to the security people, and when I approached the desk I said, 'I really hesitate to even tell you what's happening right now, but there is a man in a car up on the third floor dressed like Batman,'" Aurand said.

The security guard went to investigate the incident. She became so scared, she resorted to eating stale crackers in her office desk drawer for lunch.

Turns out, it was a child car seat cover.

"I could tell that he was trying really hard not to laugh," Aurand said.

Aurand was relieved but also very embarrassed. She said she will avoid going past the security desk. She later showed a co-worker the car with the Batman child seat cover, and how realistic it looked.

"I've never seen car seat covers like that," she said. "I thought it was real."
