On Saturday, Oct. 2, 40 teams of auto amateurs, engineering gear heads and adrenaline junkies will speed down Trading Post Road in Red Rocks Park. The teams that were chosen earlier this year will race their homemade human-powered soapbox carts through this historic park outside Denver in a race against the clock in hopes of speedway stardom and a place in Red Bull Soapbox Race history.

One of those 40 teams is "Team Save Ferris," made up of Matt Fisher (driver) and mechanics Jeremiah Hueske, Sandra Hueske, Josh McGuckin, and James Olson.

The tight circle of friends has chosen to recreate the 1961 Ferrari 250GT California Spyder from the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" for their racer. Each brings a unique skill to the construction process in the building of that famous Ferrari.

The team brought the gorgeous soapbox to the 9NEWS Studios on Friday and talked about the race. To see the interview, visit the video link to the right of this article.

The team also shared their favorite part with 9NEWS: the moment they painted the Ferrari's casing a bright, blazing red meant to stand out from miles away.
