written by: Jeffrey Wolf     3 months ago

DENVER - The bark heard around the world. That's what some dog owners called their attempt on Saturday at Washington Park to set a new world record.

The group hopes to break a Guinness World Record for the loudest bark by a group of dogs.

Seventy dogs in all unofficially broke the record by reaching 120 decibels, five higher than the old record set in London.

Organizers say it was all about having fun.

"It is kind of one of those things: when have you ever known for people to encourage their dogs to bark? So that is what we are doing today," organizer Kelly Nelson said.

The event also collected dog food donations to help local dog rescues.

Organizers should know if they officially broke the record in several weeks.
