DENVER - The driver of a tractor trailer has been cited after his truck collided with a Burlington Northern train, forcing the closure of Kalamath Street for hours Monday morning. ![]() The crash happened just before 6 a.m. Monday near Kalamath St. and 1st Avenue. At one point both Kalamath and Bayaud Streets were closed, as emergency crews worked to clean up the accident scene. Denver Police Department spokesman Sonny Jackson says it appears that the truck was in the path of the approaching train. The locomotive hit the truck, which in turn hit a power pole, knocking out power to the surrounding area. Jackson says there were no injuries. He said that the truck driver was cited at the scene, but it's unclear what charge(s) he faces. The semi truck was eventually towed away, allowing police to reopen roads in the area around 9 a.m. The downed power pole left several intersections in the area dark. Denver Police officers helped to coordinate traffic until Xcel Energy crews were able to restore power. (Copyright KUSA*TV, All Rights Reserved)
