LAKEWOOD - This summer, Denver Water wants to remind customers to only use as much water as they need when taking care of their lawns, and they've made that reminder hard to miss.
Oversized, three-dimensional advertisements, including a large bench, fire hydrant and newsstand, are currently on display at the Belmar Shopping Center in Lakewood. The advertisements are designed to show the difference between how much water customers actually need versus how much some people are using.
"People might be watering just a little bit more than they should, so cut it back a little bit. See if your lawn looks good, and if it's still doing okay, maybe you can cut back even more," Denver Water's Stacy Chesney said. "So we're trying to raise awareness about people's water use."
Besides the ad campaign, which will be moving to pedestrian areas throughout Denver this summer, Denver Water is also a free T-shirt to anyone who pledges to use only what they need.
