KUSA - For the last few days 9NEWS has been asking Coloradans to send pictures of the service members in their life -- a few of the service members stood out to us.

VIEW SLIDESHOW OF COLORADO VETERANS, SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN

Rick Fryar wanted us to know about his dad, Harry, and his time during World War II.

I would like to Honor and thank my Dad, Harry Fryar. He is a World War II Veteran that was the belly gunner in a B24 Bomber that flew 50 missions over Italy and Europe in 1944. I cannot put into words how proud and amazed I was seeing that tiny, cramped space he was in to man that belly ball turret.

He is still in contact with the only surviving crew member and they enjoy talking.

Dad is proudest of the fact that his squadron won two Presidential Unit Citations. From a farm boy in Ravenwood MO. to a wise Great Grandfather in Colorado, he truly is a wonderful example of "The Greatest Generation". Again, many THANKS to him and to all who have served or are serving!

Jeannie Madsen Campbell wrote to tell us her father, Gordon, who also served during World War II.

This is a picture of my father, Gordon H. Madsen. He is a Marine who served in World War II, in the Pacific. My father has documented everywhere he was during the war. He has written his memoirs so that our family will always know his history from World War II. Today, my father and live in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is a Grandfather of two and Great-Grandfather of two. He is a very proud Marine and we are so very proud of him!!
