AURORA - Police say a woman who ran a red light and hit a truck and another car before fleeing the scene has been taken into custody.

Aurora Police say a woman driving a Dodge Intrepid was heading south on North Tower Road when she ran a red light at East 35th Avenue and hit a Ford F-150 that was carrying three teenagers. The truck rolled, stopping in the northbound lanes of Tower Road at Salida Street on top of a Saturn SUV.

The driver of the truck was partially ejected and died at the scene. The two other teens in the truck were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Saturn was not injured.

The driver of the Intrepid kept driving, colliding with a Toyota Matrix stopped next to the Saturn, pushing the car south. The driver of the Intrepid then fled the scene.

Officers say they arrested the driver of the Intrepid a short time later near Interstate 70 and Tower Road. She has apparently been using drugs before the crashes, police say. She was taken to jail and faces charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Investigators say they will determine if she will face additional charges.

The names of the people involved have not been released by authorities.
